Can you believe 2018 is already here?! December was a whirlwind for Ventura + Santa Barbara Counties and we can honestly say that we have never seen weeks like this before in our lives. We knew at 2am Tuesday morning (12/4/18) when our sweet small town was on fire and our hearts were burning, that we had to do something. So with the reminders of donations from our Sunday soup dinner collection, we set-up a little donation campaign to help family + friends which made national news and the word about help spread like, well . . . wildfire! Words cannot describe the gratitude we have. Thank you for your generous donations, volunteered time, prayers, positive thoughts + good vibes. We made those days a model of a community in action and the outpour of love is beyond admirable. We showed everyone in the 805 that we have got your back, no matter what! Being a part of this community is beyond a blessing. We have raised approximately $20,000+ and have directly donated all funds back to the families affected via rent checks, gift cards + material possessions. We have also made a donation to the family of the fallen firefighter Cory Iverson. Thoughts of strength + courage to all that have fought + are still fighting the fire beast. We would love to thank each one individually for there selfless service, working so hard + saving others lives, homes, pets, etc.

SHADY CONTRACTORS + REBUILDING SCAMS : Let Ventura rebuild Ventura
Although most contractors are honest and fair, there are unlicensed and/or unethical contractors that you should take precautions against.
Always ask for proof of California Contractors License + references/recent job recommendations up front!
Homeowners should be particularly wary of contractors seeking work by going door to door, handing out flyers at community recovery meetings, or asking for large cash deposits or advance payments in full. The California Contractor’s State Licensing Board (CSLB) has important and valuable information http://www.cslb.ca.gov/
VENTURA COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS: FLOOD INSURANCE
The Ventura County Public Works Agency recommends that property owners with buildings still standing (particularly Thomas Fire burn areas) consider purchasing flood insurance. Homeowners can only purchase flood insurance through an insurance agent, they cannot purchase it directly from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
